Within the dynamic realm of Fokker Aerostructures' Verification & Validation department, an exciting opportunity awaits: we are seeking a Senior Stress Engineer to join our Engineering team dedicated to in-house Landing Gear projects, including prestigious ventures like NH90 and JSF. This role transcends the boundaries of a typical engineering position-it's a multidisciplinary and challenging opportunity that demands not only profound technical expertise but also exceptional organizational skills. As Senior Aeronautical stress engineer you perform static, dynamic and fatigue calculations. You are further responsible for checking various types of aircraft parts and assemblies, and also responsible for the performance of the structural strength tests and the correlation of results with a "theoretical" analysis. You do this in this role on both composite and metal structures, including general strength analysis, stiffness assessments, buckling and stability strength, fastening and connection strength and analysis of fatigue and damage tolerances. All analyzes are performed in accordance with the corresponding airworthiness requirements. You also support the justification of design changes and analyze the effect of the deviations.

What is required for this role?

As a senior Aeronautical Stress Engineer NH90 & JSF you have at least 7 years of experience and so you are independently able to perform analytical "by hand" calculations as well as with final element programs such as Patran and Nastran.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

  • Good analytical skills in combination with a practical attitude.

  • Affinity with complex technical systems.

  • Experience with structural analysis in aerospace is a must

  • Critical attitude / quality conscious.

  • Able to write technical documentation in English.

  • Experience with manual calculation and non-linear finite element analysis.

  • Knowledge of materials and processes, preferably in an aerospace environment

  • Extensive experience with static strength & fatigue analysis (both manual calculations and finite element methods).

  • Knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic (aerospace) components is recommended

  • Experience with and advanced knowledge of the finite element package Abaqus is an advantage.

  • You have prior approval signature authority.

  • Experience using CATIA to request design data.

Where will you be working: Papendrecht location, this role has an international working field and requires frequent travelling. We work hybrid: in consultation with your manager and if work allows, you can work (to a max of) 50/50 at home and at the office. This is defined in a separate home/work contract. Full-time/ part-time: the position is full-time (40 or 32 hours per week). Procedure (after your application, refer below): Part of the selection procedure is carrying out the necessary checks and screenings in order to meet the requirements set by Fokker | GKN Aerospace customers, partners and suppliers within the programme. The checks and screenings are based on the frameworks and procedures set by our Export Compliance & Security department. Every employee must ultimately be authorized to give substance to his or her position. Assessment of checks and screenings can lead to the fact that no content can be given to the position and therefore no employment or deployment can follow. On boarding at Fokker usually takes three weeks.
